The construction sector on the island is currently engaged in a number of projects. Historically, the industries capacity has been limited due to manpower, plant, equipment and material shortages. The sector is growing, with the ongoing construction of a number of smaller private works and public sector projects, which has included the large scale construction operation of building St Helena’s airport and Rupert’s Jetty. Ongoing construction activities include Mantis Main Street Hotel and Greenland’s. The Government has a large number of capital projects in the development pipeline providing opportunities for the local construction sector and professional services.
